Lawrence officer released from hospital

A Lawrence police officer who was struck by a pickup truck Thursday night was released Friday from Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

Officer Sutagee Anglin was returning to his patrol car near 24th Street and Murphy Drive when a Ford pickup truck, for unknown reasons, hit the officer and pushed him onto the hood of his patrol car.

Medical crews transported the officer to the hospital.

Police arrested the driver of the truck, a 22-year-old Lawrence man, on charges of reckless driving, having no driver’s license in his possession and driving left of center.

He was released on bond Friday morning.

The accident was still being investigated Friday.
